At Peaches Pet, we have always prioritized safety and implemented strict guidelines to prevent accidents.

Pet Supervision

All pets will not be left unattended on a grooming table or in the grooming room. If all groomers need to leave the grooming room while a pet is on the grooming table, the pet should be placed in a cage with a clean towel for comfort.

Secure Grooming Leads

Grooming leads must be secured in an arm-lock position, whether on the grooming table or in the bathtub, whenever the groomer has to leave the pet to attend to a customer or task.

Pet Observation

Ensure that there is another person to keep an eye on the pet if the groomer needs to step away. If no one else is available, place the pet in a cage or keep it on the floor with a secure leash.

Leash Management

During grooming, the leash around the pet’s neck should be secure but not too tight or too loose.

Leash Length

Pets that are on the floor and leashed should have enough lead length to comfortably stand, sit, and lie down.

Post-Grooming Report

Provide a report to the owner after grooming, noting any health or behavioral observations made during the session (verbal / text).

Cleanliness and Hazard Management

Keep the grooming area clean and free from hazards, with regular cleaning schedules for floors, tables, and equipment.

Staff Training

All staff members must complete training on pet handling, first aid, and safety protocols.

Health Checks

Perform a thorough health check on each pet before grooming to identify any signs of illness or injury.

Facility Safety

Ensure all grooming tools and equipment are in good working condition and are regularly inspected. Maintain a clean and sanitized grooming area.

Emergency Procedures

Have a clear protocol for dealing with emergencies, including contact information for local and nearest veterinary services.

Documentation

Maintain detailed records of each pet’s grooming history, health concerns, and any incidents. Keep records of staff training and certifications.

Review and Improvement

Regularly review and update SOPs to reflect new safety practices, changes in regulations, or feedback from staff and clients. Conduct periodic refresher training for staff.

FAQs

Q: Due to the recent incident, can I stay here to watch the grooming session?

Yes, we understand that recent events have raised concerns about pet safety. We do allow owners to observe the grooming session. However, if your presence causes your dog to become overly excited or anxious, we may ask you to step out temporarily to ensure a calm and safe grooming environment.

Q: How do you ensure my pet's safety during grooming?

We follow strict safety protocols, including never leaving pets unattended on grooming tables, using grooming leads in an arm-locked position, and ensuring leashes are secure but comfortable. If a groomer needs to step away, pets are either placed in a safe, comfortable cage or secured with ample leash length on the floor.

Q: What happens if my pet becomes anxious or distressed during grooming?

We prioritize your pet's comfort and well-being. If a pet shows signs of significant distress, we may take breaks, provide a comforting environment, or contact the owner to discuss the best course of action.

Q: How do you handle pets with health issues or requiring special care?

We ask owners to inform us of any health issues, allergies, or special care their pets may have or require. This information allows us to take the necessary precautions, such as using hypoallergenic products or adjusting grooming techniques to accommodate their needs - such as grooming blind / senior / large breeds on the floor to prevent them from falling.

Q: Can you not put my dog in the cage?

Your pet is placed in a cage that is appropriately sized according to the law, providing ample space to sit, stand, and lie down comfortably. This measure is taken for your pet's safety, especially when we are busy and unable to supervise them continuously.

Q: I do not like my dog being leashed up in the grooming room / placed in a cage.

For the safety of all pets, we keep them leashed or secured while in the grooming room, as allowing pets to roam freely can lead to accidents or injuries (e.g. dogs fighting). However, if available and your pet is calm and does not cause disruption or damage to our property, we can put them in the play area where they can relax under supervision before or after grooming.

Q: How long is a grooming session?

A grooming session usually takes 2-3 hours. Under some circumstances we may require more time due to the size and behaviour of the pet or the equipment's availability.

Q: Why does a grooming session take so long?

Several factors contribute to the length of a grooming session, including:

  • Safety Precautions: We prioritize your pet's comfort and well-being, taking breaks if they become too distressed to ensure a positive experience.

  • Queue for Equipment: Pets may need to wait their turn for the use of grooming equipment, such as bathtubs and dryers.

  • Buffer Time: We allocate extra time in our schedule to accommodate unforeseen circumstances, such as dealing with mats and tangles, which can take additional time to manage properly.

Q: Can I leave my pet with you till the end of the day?

We provide hourly daycare services at a first-come-first-serve basis at $10 per hour. If you would like to place your pet in our daycare, please make a booking via our website's service page or Whatsapp +65 8818 8633 for availability.
